Vitamiss Block is an over-the-counter weight loss aid specifically designed for women. This dietary supplement is marketed as a “Carb & Fat Inhibitor for Women”. It claims to prevent (block) the body from absorbing fats from foods, helps to stop carbs from converting into body fat, provides fiber and supports weight loss.

Each capsule has been formulated with a proprietary formula containing: Chitosan, Phaseolus Vulgaris, Apple Cider Vinegar Powder, Garcina Cambogia Extract, G. Sylvestre, Aloe Vera Extract and California Buckthorn. Two capsules make up one serving size and each serving contains 1450mg of the proprietary formula. The individual amounts of each ingredient within the formula have not been provided.

The recommended dosage is to take 2 capsules 30 minutes prior to lunch and 2 capsules 30 minutes before dinner. The capsules should be taken with 8 ounces of water and no more than 4 should be exceeded in a day. There are 60 capsules per bottle, which means that if you follow the usage instructions you’ll require two bottles per month, which can be quite pricey considering this product sold for $27.99 per bottle on Amazon when this review was written.

Aside from being costly, there is absolutely no scientific proof to support the claims made about Vitamiss Block and there is no guarantee that taking this product will result in any weight loss.

With that in mind, here is a closer look at the first couple of ingredients in the formula. Chitosan is a sugar that comes from the outer skeleton of shellfish and it is a fibrous substance that is believed to help block the absorption of dietary cholesterol and fat. Some research has found that when combined with a low-calorie diet, chitosan may result in a small amount of weight loss. However, taking chitosan on its own does nothing for weight loss. Due to the fact that its effects on weight loss are so minimal, it doesn’t appear to make a difference to a person’s health.

Phaseleous Vulgaris, better known as White Kidney Bean, is believed to help block carbs by inhibiting the enzyme that digests starch, preventing it from turning into sugar. Although there is no solid clinical evidence to show that it aids in weight loss, it can affect blood sugar or interact with other medications that are used to treat blood sugar. For this reason it is not safe for everyone to take, particularly for individuals with diabetes.

Apple cider vinegar powder may also affect blood sugar levels and may help to control food cravings and can be a digestive aid.

Finally, in addition to not being a proven weight loss aid, taking Vitamiss Block can result in unpleasant gastrointestinal side effects and should also be avoided by anyone who has an allergy to shelfish or who is required to monitor their blood sugar levels. To be on the safe side, it is recommended that you first speak with your healthcare provider before taking this product.
