Do you like the idea of losing weight without changing your lifestyle? If so, you may be able to “achieve your weight loss goals with America’s #1 Diet Supplement,” Lipozene, or so says the manufacturers of this over-the-counter (OTC) diet pill. Claiming to have sold over 25 million bottles, the official website of Lipozene says that this product is clinically proven to help you lose weight without you having to give up your favorite foods or making changes in exercise.

Lipozene contains a 1500mg proprietary blend of Amorphophallus Konjac (from Konjac Root). Users are instructed to take 1 or 2 Lipozene capsules up to 3 times a day, 30 minutes before each meal, with at least 8 ounces of liquid.

More specifically, this diet pill is made from glucomanan. This is a water-soluble fiber that is commonly used in over-the-counter weight loss aids to help suppress appetite. The belief is that when combined with water, this gel-like fiber expands in your stomach, providing you with a feeling of fullness, so that you eat less and will, therefore, reach your weight loss goal all the faster.

The ingredient in Lipozene apparently has the ability to absorb up to 200x its own size in water. The fiber blend that dissolves in the stomach and activates in water supposedly creates a feeling of fullness that lasts for hours.

While many believe that glucomanan can lead to appetite suppression, there is no clinical proof that it does this or that it will help a person lose weight. Furthermore, even if it does help to suppress appetite, you still need to eat a calorie conscious diet and engage in regular exercise if you want to lose weight.

On a positive note, Lipozene contains only one ingredient and contains no stimulants, which are typically common in OTC diet pills. This means that you don’t need to worry about unpleasant side effects like sleeplessness, anxiety and rapid heartbeat. However, this does not mean that this product is side effect-free. Glucomanan is often used for alleviating constipation, which means that you may experience gastrointestinal upset while taking it. Furthermore, you need to make sure that you drink sufficient water when taking these pills to not only make sure the fiber expands but that it expands in the right place.

Prior to using a supplement like Lipozene to reach your weight loss goals, you should first speak with your healthcare provider. It is important to make sure that this is a safe and practical product for you.
